Anfa (rear RTL ''' آنفا ''' in Arabic), old founded city Sidi Mohamed Ben Abd-allah on the site of Casablanca, with the Morocco. There are not quite precise data as for his origin.

History

Vague origin

The foundation of Anfa remains a mystery, according to Leon the African, born in 1490, it would have been founded by the Romains. For Marmol, its origin would be Phénicienne. For Ezzayani, born in 1734, the city would have been founded by the Berbères Zénata were established in Tamesna and Tadla, Senhadja in Doukkala. Almoravide conquest

Almohade, Mérinide, Wattaside

From the XIII to the XV century, Anfa is an important city, the Almohades and Mérinides will dispute it then they will be the Mérinides and the Wattassides. At the end of the latter, Anfa will form a republic of corsairs.

Destruction of the city

Alaouites dynasty

In 1794, the city becomes the residence of the governor of the provinde of Chaouia under the name of Dar el-Beïda .

French protectorate

To reinforce its presence and to consolidate its perenniality, French decided to build a port at the city. This decision caused to give a new breath to the city. As from the years 1920, this hill was arranged to accommodate the newcomers (mainly French and Moroccan) who were made there build luxurious villas comparable with those of Los Angeles or of Miami.

Conférance d' Anfa

Revival of the city

Moreover, the district abounds in cribs, schools, colleges and private colleges which are very expensive and which are characterized by quality high from teaching that they provide.

Demography

The city counted in 1850 a few hundreds of inhabitants, it counted some close to: |8000 in 1866, of which: |60000 Moslem: |1800 Jews and more than one hundred of Europeans. The demography of the city increases considerably under the reign of Moulay Hassan {{er}}: 20000 people. In 2004, the population of the district of Anfa is of approximately: 150000 hab.

The principal boulevards of the district of Anfa are: Boulevard of the Lido, John Fidzerald Kennedy, Franklin D. Roosvelt, Pacific Ocean, Abdelkrim Khattabi as well as the Cornice.

At Anfa is located an airport ( Casablanca Metropolitan , code AITA: CASE).
