Verdasco was useful, trying to save the match point on its second service, when the line judge announced the service out wrongfully. If this advertisement had been followed, Andy would have gained the match. But Andy showed with the referee the mark of the ball which was good. The advertisement changed. Finally Verdasco gained the match. Much with the the United States said that Andy Roddick had chosen the " fair play rather than the victoire". However, the referee would certainly be descended from his chair because Verdasco was on the point of protesting and it would have been seen that the ball was good. 2006

After a first half of very disappointing year 2006 (in spite of a final with Indianapolis lost against James Blake) it at the end of July decides to call upon the legend of American tennis Jimmy Connors to involve it. Unfortunately, because of a persistent pain at the left side, it is constrained to declare fixed price for the tournaments of Washington and Toronto. Of return to the business with Cincinnati, it gains its fourth Masters Series with depends on another ghost Juan-Carlos Ferrero after one week very convincing. The September 10th 2006, it finally arrives of the US Open but is beaten by world number 1 Roger Federer in four sets. Thanks to this end of season more than suitable, Roddick obtains for the 3rd time (after 2003 and 2004) the right to dispute the Masters Cup.

2007

In 2007, Roddick finally begins with a victory with the tournament of exhibition of Kooyong against Roger Federer 6-2 3-6 6-3 and arrives in semi-final of the Open of Australia where it inclines against this same Federer 4-6 0-6 2-6, which is for him an enormous disillusion. After two weeks of pause, it connects by a semi-final with San Jose and a final with Memphis lost against the German Tommy Haas.
To Indian Wells, he arrives in semi-final by beating in particular Ivan Ljubičić in quarter but inclines himself vis-a-vis the future winner of the test Rafael Nadal 6-4, 6-3. He connects with a quarter with the Masters of Miami but must give up vis-a-vis the young British Andy Murray. This result prevents to him from connecting one 5th semi-final of sharp on 5 tournaments since the beginning of the année.
Its season on beaten Ground, the surface where it feels less at ease, is very average with in particular a defeat with the first turn of Roland-Garros.
On the other hand the part on grass starts better with a victory (the fourth) with the tournament of the Queen' S. It finally eliminates the surprise from the tournament, the French Nicolas Mahut, into three set 4-6, 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-2) by saving a match point to the second set. To note that this victory enables him to take again the third world place, that it had left at the conclusion of the Grand Slam parisien.
It thus seems well prepared for the Tournoi of Wimbledon where it was finalist in 2004 and 2005, each time beaten by the holding quintuple of the title Roger Federer. After a good course where it eliminates in particular Paul-Henri Mathieu, it is eliminated by Richard Gasquet in quarterfinal at the end of a match epic in 5 handles.
