Andronic IV Paleologist

Andronic IV Paleologist , born in Constantinople the April 11th 1348, dead the June 28th 1385, Byzantine emperor of 1376 with 1379, oldest son of Jean V Paleologist, Byzantine emperor, and of Helene Cantacuzène.

In 1374 it is drawn aside by his/her father of the succession to the throne. It forms with Savci Bey, wire of the Othoman Turkish sultan Murad I {{er}} a plot for détrôner his father. Decrees both, they are plugged, but makes of it Andronic, which loses only one eye, escapes thanks to the Génois and returns to Constantinople in 1376 to the head of an army. He imprisons his father and is made crown emperor.

Its reign will be disastrous, it restores Gallipoli with the Turks, yields Ténédos to Génois, cannot prevent the conquest of the island of Ténédos, by the Vénitiens, which restore Jean V on his throne in 1379. It is withdrawn with Galata, then obtains the forgiveness of his father and Sélymbria in prerogative.
