Andries Botha

Andries Johannes Botha (born the September 22nd 1952 with Durban, South Africa) is a Sculpteur South-African, resulting from communautée the afrikaner.

Andries Botha started to carry out Sculpture S in 1971 whereas it was student with Pietermaritzburg, at the university of Native, and exposed its works for the first time in 1974.

Graduate in Applied art of the university of Native, it teaches with Durban as from 1978.

Its important sculptures with the tormented style express power and vulnerablity and are inspired by its confrontation with the culture afrikaner in which he does not recognize himself any more.

Its works enable him to express a cultural citizenship with the creations marked by the Christian Spiritualisme , realized starting from African traditional materials.

Its works are exposed throughout the world enabling him to acquire an international notoriety in the field of carved arts.
