Andrew Mehrtens

Andrew Mehrtens , born on April 28th, 1973 with Durban (South Africa), is a player of Rugby New Zealand. He played in team of New Zealand and evolves/moves at the half station of of opening within the manpower of the Rugby Toulon-native club (1,79 m for 88 kg). Known for its remarkable play with the foot, as well in the direction of the play by kicks of displacement long and precis as in its diabolic effectiveness in the role of striker, he was regarded as the worthy successor of Grant Fox at his station.

Resulting from an big family of rugbymen (her large father AlBlacks and its father having played with the AlBlackss juniors), he plays for the first time with Blacks in 1995 and marks the spirits instantaneously by registering 28 points.
Il holds many records: both better many points marked against the same nation (209 points against the South Africa and 202 points against the Australia), the greatest number of points marked for Blacks; it held the record of points marked in the Tri-nations, it is with Daniel Carter that it returns today.

It is also a showpiece of its province of the Crusaders with which it gains the Super 12 with four recoveries. Unfortunately, its prize list with Blacks is less eulogistic: in spite of some titles of Tri-Nations, it does not have a world cup with its prize list. It did not take part besides in the world cup 2003 following a fall of form and wounds with repetitions. Not playing with the national team, it joined the England and the club of the Harlequins before signing for the Rugby Toulon-native club pulled by Tana Umaga.
