Andrei It Narmonov

Andrei It Narmonov is a character of the novels of Tom Clancy.

This character is not completely fictitious, being very inspired by Mikhail Gorbatchev.

Soviet politician shining, Narmonov is General secretary of the Communist party of the Soviet Union, and thus chief of the Soviet Union, in the novels the Cardinal of the Kremlin and the Sum of all the fears .

Reformist, it launches a Pérestroïka and a glasnost to reform the Soviet model which does not function, to allow him to survive. He must however make with the inertia of the orthodoxe Communists of the Politburo, such Alexandrov or Gerasimov. In the Cardinal of the Kremlin, it misses being made reverse by the latter. Indeed, Narmonov made enter in Politburo one his/her friend, Vaneyev. However, the girl of this last is compromised in the Cardinal business, and Gerasimov uses that to make pressure on Vaneyev and to gain it with its cause, which would make it possible to make lose its majority with Narmonov. Finally, this plot will fail, Vaneyev having very told with his/her friend Narmonov and Gerasimov having been victim of another blackmail by Jack Ryan.

It involuntarily failed to start a nuclear war against the the United States, but the conflagration was avoided of accuracy ( the Sum of all the fears ).

Later it tried to avoid the fragmentation of the Soviet Union, task which it will fail, the USSR having yielded its place to the news Fédération of Russia.
