Andreas Maislinger , born in 1955, close to Salzburg, is the founder of the Austrian Service of the Memory, Gedenkdienst .

It made its studies of political sciences and right to Salzburg, and the history of Eastern Europe in Vienna. In 1980 it is received doctor, having prepared his thesis on the subject `problems of the Austrian defense policy'. In 1982 it belonged to the founders of the `commission of associations independent for peace of Austria', and in 1986 of the Austrian company - Israeli in the Tyrol.

Since 1992 Maislinger is the scientific manager of the Journées of the Modern history of Braunau Braunauer Zeitgeschichte-Tage which take place once per annum with Braunau, on In.

Maislinger is the founder of the Austrian Service of the Memory, of which it was managing it until 1997. It engaged for the adoption by the law of this alternative to the military service, which has like drank to inform on the Holocaust.
