Andreas Franz Wilhelm Schimper is a Botaniste French, born the May 12th 1856 with Strasbourg and dead the September 9th 1901 with Basle.
He is the son of the botanist and paleontologist Guillaume Philippe Schimper (1808-1880). He is professor associated with Bonn then professor with Basle. He takes part in many scientific exhibitions. He is in particular the author of Pflanzengeographie (1898). He makes a work pionnière in the field of vegetable ecology and clarifies the stability of the distributions of the plants.
