Andreas (of its true name Andreas Martens ) is a Scénariste and Dessinateur of Cartoon, born the January 3rd 1951 with Weißenfels, in Germany.
It is thus 1973 qu ' Andreas free Germany to go in Belgium in order to study there, during three years, at the Saint-Luc Institute. He meets there Philippe Berthet, Antonio Cossu and Philippe Foerster with which he will work in workshop in 1977. As of the second year of study, it follows in parallel, the courses of Eddy Paape with the Academy of Saint-Gilles during two years. It is Jijé which chairs its Final Board Saint-Luc.
In 1978 it passes in France, initially for Paris then Saint-Brieuc (1982) and finally Rennes (1995).
It begins by taking part in the reviews (To be followed), the Newspaper of Tintin and Métal Howling.
In 1978 it creates the character of Rork for the review the Newspaper of Tintin. Its adventures will be taken again in albums in the collection Histoires and legends of the editions Lombard.
Its first album published is posthumous Révélations into 1980 with the Bédérama editions, with François Rivière as scenario writer. It is a collection of the four imaginary stories on the writers H.P. Lovecraft, Agatha Christie, Jules Verne, and Pierre Loti, published in the reviews (To be followed) and using the technique of the Carte to scrape.
In 2001, the Festival of Cartoon Quai of the Bubbles of Saint-Malo gave the price to him Dunce's cap .
In 2002, it takes part in the great adventure Donjon chapeautée by Lewis Trondheim and Joann Sfar by drawing an album of the series Monster in the collection Humor of laughing of the editions Delcourt.
Since 1997 it work mainly on its two plus long series: Capricorn (at least 20 volumes) for the editions of Lombard and Arq (envisaged in 18 volumes) for those of Delcourt.
Since 2001, Andreas delegates the color application of the series Capricorne to Isabelle Cochet. In 2006, the partnership is perennialized, Isabelle Cochet takes part in the drawing of the album Quintos .
Prolific author it published forty albums in 25 years. He can be made the facetious deconstructor of the account with suspense. Owner at bottom the graphic possibilities of his art, pushing narrative constructions and daring cuttings towards a complexity without concession ( Cyrrus-Millet , the red Triangle , X-20 ), Andreas builds a sincere, diverting, but single work sometimes.
He is follower at the same time of Lovecraft, of Edgar Poe and of the black series in the topics which he also approaches but says influenced graphically by Bernie Wrightson, Barry Windsor-Smith or even Alex Toth.
