Andrea della Robbia
Andrea della Robbia (Florence 1435-1525) nephew of Luca della Robbia, wire of his/her Marco brother, is a ceramist Florentin specialist in the terracotta invetriata (enamelled terra cotta).
Biography
It carried to a very great diffusion the art of the terracotta invetriata while becoming the Master-craftsman of the workshop inherited his uncle. Contrary to its famous predecessors, it is not with properly a sculptor and it is inspired more contemporary painting than with the sculpture. Its works, often in white and blue two-color printing, are widespread in the churches and the palates of all Tuscany. Between its more successes, large the panels in sanctuary of Verna, or the medallion with the saints Francesco and Domenico in the loggia of San Paolo in Florence.
