Andrea del Sarto of its true name Andrea d' Agnolo di Francesco di Luca or even Andrea d' Agnolo di Francesco di Luca di Paolo del Migliore (Gualfonda close to Florence, 1486 - Florence, 1531), is a painter Italy N mannerist of the High Rebirth.
According to Vasari, “ the young person Andrea del Sarto, spent all its moments of freedom in the “Room of the pope” to Santa Maria Novella, to study the paperboard of Michel-Angel for the Bataille of Cascine and that of Léonard for the Bataille of Anghiari. ” Andrea and its older friend Franciabigio decide to open a workshop together on Piazza del Grano. Their first work is the Baptême of Christ for the congregation florentine Scalzo, the beginning of long series of monochromic frescos in Grisaille. With time their association dissolves and the style of Andrea del Sarto will develop individually starting from this date.
It is allowed on December 12th, 1508 in the corporation of the painters, the Arte dei Medici E degli Speziali , and to this year its first works go back.
The monks of the convent of the Santissima Annunziata, orders to him to finish, with Franciabigio and Andrea Feltrini, the frescos started in 1460 with Alesso Baldovinetti, continued then by Cosimo Rosselli. They entrust to him in 1509 the care to carry out the cinque Storie di miracoli di san Filippo Benizzi , which it completes one year afterwards in the Loggia dei Servi di Maria.
Its voyage to Rome in the 1510 is probable there because it had to take note of the pictorial developments of Raphaël, used in the Corteo dei Magi of 1511 and then in the Natività della Vergine of 1514 for the same cloister of the Santissima Annunziata .
The great number of the projects of the years which follow and which made the fame of Andrea as draftsman, reveal the lessons which it draws from the study of Michel-Angel, as in the face of the Child and the tended arm of Giovanni in the Madonna collar Bambino E san Giovannino of Borghese.
In 1514 it starts the monochromic frescos of the Chiostro dello Scalzo in Florence, which it will supplement, with many interruptions, in 1526.
The monochromy allows representations similar to the low-reliefs, and its delle Madonna Arpie of the Uffizi, of 1517, which comprises obvious references to FRA Bartolomeo, recalls the image of a sculpture. In a niche, in a heat half-light, the Madonna seems a statue on a pedestal.
At the end of 1517 or at the beginning of 1518, he marries Lucrezia del Fede (widowed of September 1516 of Carlo di Domenico Berrettaio), which he has known for several years and which he already used as model and which will continue to be it in many tables.
He carries out a passage in France in 1518 with the service of François I {{er}}, with his pupil Andrea Squarzzella, leaving his wife to Florence.
He already carried out for the king of France the Madonna collar Bambino, santa Elisabetta E san Giovannino and Charity of Louvre (and other lost works).
During its stay, its Lucrezia wife him enjoint to return towards Italy. The king approves, but only provided that its absence of France is short, and he entrusts to Andrea an amount of money to spend to buy works of Article to him Rentré to Florence, instead of that, he lets himself try by the construction of a house in the city.
That brings a conflict with François 1st who refuses to reinstate Andrea in his court. No serious punishment, however, apparently arrived at the artist.
In 1520 its work is localized in Florence, where it carries out Foi and Charité with the cloister of Scalzo, followed by the Danse of the girl of Hérode , the decapitation of saint Jean Baptiste , presentation of the head of Jean saint in Hérode , a Allégorie of the Hope , l'" Appearance of the angels with Zacharie" (1523).
It renovates the traditional visible images of Pietà florentines in the compositions of Vienna and of the Palais Pitti, the latter, inspired in Pietà of FRA Bartolomeo, initially for the monastery San Piero has Luco , in the Mugello, where Andrea took refuge in 1523 to escape the epidemic from the plague which prevails in Florence.
It paints a Visitation , monochromic, in autumn 1524, after being returned of Luco.
In 1525, it turns over to paint the Madonna del Sacco with the cloister of Annunziata, a medallion called thus following a confusion and its final work is the Naissance of saint Jean Baptist (1526), and the following year a Dernière Cène with San Salvi, close to Florence.
He dies of the Peste in 1531, of the continuations of the head office of Florence (1529-1530).
