Andre de Marchiennes
André Sylvius de Marchiennes was an ecclesiastic and chronicler French of the 12th-13th centuries.
He was monk of the Abbaye of Anchin, and provost of the Abbaye of Marchiennes; Benedictine abbey, in the County of Hainaut. Under the influence of the princes who wished to be established prestigious ascents, sometimes until Charlemagne, it leant in the genealogical sources, often circumventing historical exactitude.
He wrote a large chronicle, fruit of his research: the Historia succincta of gestis and successione regum francorum (1196).
One allots also the Genealogiae Aquicinctinae , the Chronicon Marchianense and the Poleticum Marchianense to him.
