Andre Roussin , born the January 22nd 1911 with Marseilles, dead the November 3rd 1987, is a dramatic author French. Its daring comedies on subjects often taboos (the abortion, homosexuality, the love enters white and a black…) had an important repercussion in the Light comedies French.
Beginnings
Raised in a family of the Marseilles upper middle class, André Roussin gives up studies of right to become briefly journalist (with the
Petit Marseillais ), then devotes to the theater as from 1933 in the
company of the gray Curtain founded by
Louis Ducreux. He takes part in the direction of the troop, while being actor there, until the end of the
Second world war.
Success
The first great success of Roussin is the Small Hut, part created in 1947, played 1500 times at the theater of the Innovations.
Polemical parts
The subjects tackled by the comedies of Andre Roussin overflow the usual arguments of the light comedies to tackle exposed subjects rarements, where the author puts forward sights remarkably progressists for his time. The will to stick to the evolutions manners and opinion pushed it to re-examine and adapt some of its parts by modifying some the texts or the intrigues.
The French Academy
He is elected with the French Academy the April 12th 1973, with the armchair 7, succeeding Pierre-Henri Simon. He had declared before his election: " If I am elected, I will be immortal; if I am beaten, I will not die about it pas." Its official reception took place the May 2nd 1974.
