Andre Romand
André Romand is a painter French born with Troyes (Aube) in 1889 and died in 1982 in the same city.
He becomes painter against the will of his parents. During its studies with the Academy of the Beautiful-Art of Paris, it is called there the “Danger No 1 “by one of its professor, because of his voluntary style. After having left the Academy, he works as an advertizing graphic designer.
After several last years in the Parisian metropolis, it is withdrawn finally in the countryside, or it seeks peace until maturity. As art does not nourish its man yet, he works as decorator and house painter.
The town of Troyes starts to pay attention to him, by organizing personal exposures of painting in gallery. It is made friends, who consider that a " Romand is a quite expensive " who constitutes the key of glare to the installation of their apartment. Then the voyages come abroad, amongst other things in Spain and Germany. He likes the first for his color, and the other for his embuée light.
In the written press, its art receives a certain recognition:
- on January 8th, 1954, “Le Monde” written: André Romand is a traditional painter. Its control can reveal the light as by enchantment .
- “Arts” written, on January 14th, 1954: its fabrics breathe the freshness of the landscape .
- the “New York Herald Platform” written: As landscape designer, it has few equal among its contemporaries .
The town of Paris acquires several of its works.
French arrived at the glory of alive sound. In is it to trust? “What I have thus arrived? ” it is accustomed to saying, “to rather little… I am condemned, to catch stars but I can never seize them. The haste of going from painting in painting is a long way of suffering and labor”.
André Romand dies in his birthplace in 1982, and puts back with the cemetery of Rosnay the Hospital (Paddle).
