André Morice is a politician French, born the October 10th 1900 with Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) and deceased the January 17th 1990 in Nantes.

Public works contractor. Mobilized in 1939, he is prisoner during the Occupation but its company collaborates in the construction of the “Atlantic Wall” (by the Organization Todt). With the Release, it takes again the management of the Nantes Firm of public works. Radical appointed elected official of the Loire-Inférieure in 1945, it sits at the National Assembly until 1958. He is under-secretary of State, then Secretary of State to Technical education, Youth and the Sports in 1951, with a short interruption in 1950 when he is named Minister for State education government Henri Queuille (2). He occupies then the functions of Minister for the Merchant navy in 1952 in the government Edgar Faure (1), of, Transport and Tourism in 1953 in the cabinets Antoine Pinay and Rene Mayer, Commercial Minister in 1956 in the cabinet Edgar Faure (2) and finally public Minister Minister for Labor for National defense and the Armed forces in 1957 in the government of Maurice Bourges-Maunoury).

For this reason, it conceives the Ligne Morice, an electrified and undermined stopping which separates the Algérie from its neighbors and is intended to prevent infiltrations of elements of the Armée with national release (A). This partisan of French Algeria opposes with Queuille the policy of Pierre Mendès France and founds the republican Center in 1956. With independent the Roger Duchet, the ex-gaullist Jacques Soustelle and the ex-MRP Georges Bidault, he fights within the framework of the “conference of Vincennes” against the Algerian policy of the de Gaulle general. He is mayor of Nantes of 1965 to 1977 with the head of a municipality which goes from the independent to SFIO. From 1965 to 1983, he is senator of the Loire-Atlantique (democratic Gauche).
