André Monteil is a French politician, born the August 15th 1915 with Juillac (Corrèze), he died the November 8th 1998 with Paris in the XVIe district.
Qualified schoolteacher, André Monteil takes part in the Résistance in the Northern Movement Release and order the French Forces of the Interior of Quimper. He is elected with the two constituent National Assemblies then with the National Assembly as a deputy MRP of the Finistere of 1945 to 1958. He is Secretary of State to the Armed forces (Navy) in the cabinet Rene Pleven (1) then in the cabinet Henri Queuille (3) in 1951, then Minister for the Public health in the government of Pierre Mendès France. He is one of the rare hostile MRP to CED, which leads to its exclusion of the formation Christian-Democrat. Under Ve République, he is senator of 1959 to 1971, member of the group of the center Union. He chairs the commission of the foreign affairs and the defense of the Senate of 1968 to 1971. André Monteil was member of the Senate of the Community in 1959-1960. He engaged with resolution in favor of Israel and in the fight against the anti-semitism.
André Monteil was mayor of Quimper of 1954 to 1959.
