André Michelin (1853 - 1931) is a French industrialist, brother of Edouard Michelin. It created in 1900 the Guide Michelin, then in 1910, it launches famous the chart of France, consisted of forty seven juxtaposed sheets, folded according to the clever principle of the accordion. Drawn to the 1/200 000, the charts Michelin were essential with the passing of years by their quasi microscopic precision and their distinctive signs (attracted tourist, headlights and beacons, ladder of one centimetre for two kilometers…).
