Andre Maudet
André Maudet (Holy 1903-1996) is a French political personality member of the socialist party, lawyer, resistant, which was mayor Saintes during 27 years, General adviser during 36 years.
Biography
He was born with Saintes on January 2nd, 1903. His/her father was general storekeeper and his principal mother Shoveling Eugene.He is received with the baccalaureat at 15 years, makes his studies of right to Bordeaux and becomes the youngest lawyer of France because he is registered with the bar of Holy before his 20 years. He will be twice the Bâtonnier.
He militates with the league of the human rights then to the socialist party.
He makes the war as Capitaine of the army of Alsace where he also meets the general de Gaulle confined him with Wangenbourg.
For its activities in resistance, it is stopped on June 10th, 1944 off-set with the camp of Neuengamme then transferred in April 1945 to the camp from Brezanni of which it is released on May 8th, 1945. It is accommodated on its arrival in station Holy on May 19th, 1945 by a many crowd.
It has takes again its family life with his wife and her daughter and her life of brilliance lawyer, but it will remain of an extreme thinness.
In its law firm, it recruits the young person Philippe Marchand future deputy socialist and minister.
He dies with Saintes on January 2nd, 1996.

- City council man the Holy ones in 1938 (it takes the seat of his father) but it refuses to lend oath to Vichy and must resign.
- mayor Holy on July 7th 1945.
- Appointed SFIO for both assembled constituent of 1945 and 1946, then it will be devoted only to local mandates.
- in dissension with the Communists it is re-elected in 1947 with the town hall the Holy ones with the support of the gaullists. He will be re-elected into 1953,1959 and 1965 (with 65% of the voices) but beaten in 1971.
- after the war he is again elected with the General advice of the Charente-Maritime where he will sit 36 years on the whole.
