Andre Luy

André Luy is a Swiss organist, born the January 12th 1927 with Tramelan, in the Canton of Bern, deceased the April 6th 2005 with Lutry, in the Canton of Vaud.

André Luy carried out his schooling with Saint-Imier. After studies with the academies of Neuchâtel and Geneva, he is organist with La Chaux-de-Fonds, then with Saint-Imier and Morges.

In 1957, it becomes titular organ of the cathedral of Lausanne. He was honorary organist of the Cathedral of Lausanne 1992 with 2005. André Luy gave hundreds of recitals and concerts in Europe like in North Africa and Japan. He recorded several discs as soloist or partner of the famous trumpet player Maurice André.

André Luy also taught with the academy of Lausanne and Musikhochschule of Saarbrucken (D). Honorary doctor of the University of Lausanne, it had in particular collaborated with the choruses of the Radio French-speaking Switzerland and Pro Arte like with the Vocal ensemble and instrumental of Lausanne.
