Andre Lallemand

Andre Lallemand , born with Cirey-on-Vezouze the September 29th 1904 and dead the March 24th 1978, is a French astronomer.

He is director of the Institut of astrophysics of Paris. He makes important contributions to the development of the Photomultiplicateur S for astronomy and of the “electronic camera” or “Lallemand camera”.

Appointed professor with the Collège de France, it occupies the pulpit of physical methods of the astronomy of 1961 with 1974. He is elected member of the Academy of Science in 1961. He receives the Médaille Eddington of the Royal Astronomical Society in 1962 for his work. The crater Lallemand on the Moon bears its name, and the Academy of Science gives every two years the Lallemand Price for work in astronomy.
