André Fougeroux de Secval (C-W communication Serval also met) is a soldier and a sailor French, born the March 13rd 1739 with Paris and deceased in 1819 with Pithiviers (Loiret).
André Fougeroux de Secval was the nephew of Henri-Louis Duhamel of the Heap, died without posterity. His/her Angélique sister had married certain Fougeroux and their children took again his name, so that André Fougeroux de Secval was also made call André Duhamel Fougeroux de Secval . Itself signed its correspondences with its superiors Duhamel de Secval or simply of Secval and even Desecval .
The military career of Andre Fougeroux de Secval began in 1754, when he became assistance-artillerist with Brest. It rose then as naval officer: second lieutenant of artillery (1757), artillery lieutenant as a second (1762), artillery lieutenant in first (1767), lieutenant (1771), captain lieutenant as a second (1772), lieutenant-colonel (1779), captain (1780). It left then the service with the rank of sergeant of the naval weapons and 3.000 books of appointement. It had been made Chevalier of Saint-Louis the June 28th 1775. During its career, it carried out a certain number of embarquements : Hélié (1759), Splendid the (1759), Elizabeth (1761), Waked up the (1762), the Glorious (1762), the Zodiac (1763), the Swallow (1764), Heroin (1765) and the Sea-bream (1768).
As an officer of naval artillery, André Fougeroux de Secval was charged to supervise the metallurgical operations of a certain number of forging mills and foundries, where guns for the Navy were manufactured, and to give an account of it to the Minister for the Navy. He also directed the tests of these guns. For this reason it remained in several forging mills, starting from 1767 :
