André Ceccarelli is regarded as one of best the Batteur S French of our time. That which is often called " Dédé" played and recorded with largest, and this, whatever the style. But one is all the same able to say that it is mainly a beater of Jazz. Nonglad to play " live" , it also recorded a great number of discs under its name.

It was born with Nice in 1946, but went to Paris as of the fourteen years age. However, it really began in the Sixties, within the orchestra of Aimé Barelli. It even belonged to the French rock group the Wildcats. Then it " pige" with largest jazzmen of the time, while becoming a musician of very active studio.

From end of the year 60, he collaborates with the arranger and trumpet player Yvan Julien with whom he records in particular the album Synthesis (1978). He also takes part in the transitory group Troc (1972) with Jannick Top and Alex Ligertwood and signs two albums of style fusion, one for label BINGOW at the end of the Seventies, the other for the Carla label with beginning of the year 80 (with former members of Barter).

One can consider that one of the most important years of its career is 1987, because it is that of the meeting with Dee Dee Bridgewater which consequently will want to always have it in its group.

It records from now on under its name, and this since the Nineties. Its last opus goes back to it, Avenue of the Devils Blues (2005), in trio with Joey DeFrancesco and Biréli Lagrène, is a perfect example of its play: embanking swing (in particular on the fast ultra tempos), its and marvellous touch, and especially, drive single.

With Sylvain Luc and Jean-Marc Jafet it founds in 2000 the Southern Trio.

It thus forms part of the largest French beaters, whose fame largely exceeded the borders of the Hexagon, as well as Manu Katché.

April 23rd, 2007, it is the beater in the concert of Lalo Schifrin in Large Rex at the time of the festival Jules Verne Aventures. At the conclusion of the last recall in the concert, Schifrin encourages it to finish on a solo of very energetic battery, the room is filled.
