André Castex (1851 with Bordeaux - 1942 with Paris) is a doctor French.

Biography

André Castex was born with Bordeaux in 1851. He studied medicine in Paris.

Initially Intern of Paris (1876 - 1879), then Senior registrar of Dr. Krishaber (1877 - 1878), it obtained its doctorate in Medicine in 1881. Helps of anatomy at Faculty (1881 - 1882), prosector (1883 - 1886), it was named surgical Senior registrar of the Hospital (1887 - 1888). He created then a free Course of otorhinolaryngology of 1891 to 1895 in Paris, then a Course complementary to ORL as from 1896. He founded in 1898 the Bulletin of laryngology, rhinology and otology . Simultaneously with its teaching hospital activity, he exerted at the National Institution of deaf-mute of Paris (today National institute of the young deaf persons). Initially Surgeon of the private clinic of the establishment, MédecinHéral O., (to be appeared), Contribution to the history of orthoepy in France Andre Castex (1851- 1942) : initiator of the Course of orthoepy (1903) to the private clinic of the National Institution of Deaf-mute and scientific Co-editor of the Treaty of Orthoepy (1920), J. He had throughout his career an intense leading activity in various periodicals and treated ( Bulletin of laryngology, rhinology and otology of course but also Revue surgery , Annales of the diseases of the ears and larynx , Nouveau treaty of surgery , Traité Medicine and Therapeutic , etc): 10 publications on the diseases of the Pharynx, 28 on those of the Larynx of which the Orthoepy: Correction of the disorders of the word and the voices , ten devoted to physiology and pathology of the voice, twenty-seven with the diseases of the nose and its additional cavities, thirty three with the diseases of the ears whose one Report/ratio with Mr. Minister of Interior Department on the Institutes the Deaf-mute ones in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Germany of North , four with the deaf-and-dumbness, four with the diseases of the esophagus, Trachea, the parotid ones and twelve with the general surgery will appear until 1906. Twenty-six other publications will spread out of 1907 to 1918, several devoted to the wounds and deafnesses of war of which Rééducation of the deaf persons of war: Presentation of rehabilitated soldiers , ( Yearly of Medicine ), in 1916. It had been named at the beginning of the Chef conflict of the center of otorhinolaryngology with the Villemin military hospital of Paris. He was member of several Learned societies (anatomical, clinical, of medicine of Paris, medicine and practical, French surgery of otorhinolaryngology - founding member in 1891 then President in 1904, of otorhinolaryngology of Paris - President in 1902, Belgian of ORL). He accomplished several scientific voyages in order to study teaching ORL in Germany and Austria (1896), in Russia (1897), in England and Italy (1898). He died in Paris in 1942.
