Andre Brahic

André Brahic is a astronomer and physicist French.

He is astrophysicist with the ECA, professor with the Université of Paris VII and director of the laboratory Gamma-gravitation attached to the UFR of Physics. He worked in particular with Évry Schatzman and Michel Hénon, in particular on the supernovæ, the Théorie of chaos, the Dynamique of the Galaxie S, the planetary rings and the formation of the Solar system of which he is one of largest world experts at present.

It is also a specialist in the exploration of the Solar system by the space probes of which it followed all the history since many years. It was in particular interested in the rings of giant planets and worked out one of the principal models concerning the Saturn's rings. In 1984, he discovered, in company in particular Bruno Sicardy and of William Hubbard, the rings and the arcs of Neptune, five years before their photographic confirmation by the probe Voyager.

He received the price scientific Jean-Perrin 2006 of popularization. Indeed, it is particularly interesting to listen for a non-specialist and often with a certain humor
