Andre Bergeron

André Bergeron is a French trade unionist (born on January 1st 1922 with Suarce, Territoire of Belfort).

Wire of railwayman, and after studies with the college of technical education of Belfort, he becomes conducting typographer - as Georges Séguy - in April 1936 until in 1948.

Trade unionist, it takes part, in May 1936, with the strikes which mark the come to power of the Popular front. He is member of the section SFIO of Belfort (1945 - 1946). The Socialist party left to devote itself to the trade unionism, which he wants independent of any political movement. In 1946, André Bergeron is elected general secretary of the typographical trade union CGT of Belfort. The same year, it joined Leon Jouhaux and Robert Bothereau in the group of the Friends of Working force, running reformist of the CGT, in opposition to the catch in hand of the confederation by the Communistes. He is general secretary of the group Working force (FO) (1946). In 1947, at the time of the third scission of the CGT, it chooses to leave for CGT-FO. He becomes permanent secretary of the departmental union of the trade unions CGT-FO of the Territoire of Belfort and the Federation CGT-FO of the Book (1948).

He is regional delegate of CGT-FO and member of the executive commission in 1950, enters to the Confederal office in 1956 and becomes general secretary of the General confederation of work - Working force in November 1963. Promoter of trade-union independence and the contractual practice, it will remain in station until the February 4th 1989. He is vice-president of the international Confédération of the free trade unions and member of the executive committee of the international graphic federation in 1957.

In 1958, Bergeron carries out the delegation Working force in the negotiations on the creation of the unemployment insurance. It is one of the creators of the UNEDIC and its first President and vice-president in alternation, every two years, of the board of directors of 1958 with 1990. He is president of the common organization of consumption farmer-consumers (OCCTA) in 1985.
