Andrézieux-Bouthéon

Andrézieux-Bouthéon is a common French, located in the department of the the Loire and the area the Rhone-Alps.

Geography

Commune located at the south of the Plain of the Drill to 15 km in the North of Saint-Etienne.

History

It is there that was built the first line of Railroad in France. As of the 18th century, the coal extracts in the area inhabitant of Saint-Etienne was transported until Andrézieux to be embarked there on board Bateau X transporting it more to north by the the Loire. To make this transport more effective, one built a railway line between Saint-Etienne and Andrézieux. Its construction began in 1823, and the first transport took place on June 30th 1827. March 1st 1832, the travellers could in their turn borrow this railway using car rail-road. The 3rd line of France of Andrézieux to Roanne was built and brought into service of 1832 at 1833.

It is this city which accommodates the Aéroport St-Etienne-Bouthéon, one of the principal airports of the Rhone-Alps, but which unfortunately knows a rather vague future following the withdrawal of several companies.
