Andrésy

Andrésy is a common department of the Yvelines, place chief of canton, district of Saint-Germain-in-Bush hammer in the area Île-de-France, in France.

Geography

The commune of Andrésy extends in edge from the Seine on Right Bank, with the Confluent of the Oise. The communal territory includes a island of the Seine, the island of Andrésy, as well as a strip of land on left bank of the Seine, bordering on Achères.

Andrésy is close to the new agglomeration of Cergy-Pontoise in north as well as towns of Poissy and Saint-Germain-in-Bush hammer in the south. The communes bordering are Maurecourt in north, Chanteloup-the-Vines in the west, Carrières-sous-Poissy in the south and the east Achères on left bank of the Conflans-Holy-Honorine Seine and on left bank of Oise.

It is served by two Gare S of Banlieue located on the line Paris-Saint-Lazare - Mantes-the-Pretty via Conflans-Holy-Honorine: the Station of Andrésy and the halt of Maurecourt, like by the station of the RER located at Fine Conflans of Oise.

On the road level, the departmental 55, established in extreme cases western of the commune, constitutes a loop line of the city between north and the south.

On the arm of the Seine located between the island and left bank a stopping and a lock built in the Années 1960 belong to the plan of drain of the Seine.

Administration

History

March 3rd, 1944: the bombardment of the district of Denouval by allied aviation causes 33 dead among the population. The city, occupied since June 1940, is released on August 19th, 1944.

Monuments

Saint-Germain-of-Paris Church: church built at the 13th century and devoted to German saint, bishop of Paris at the 6th century. It was classified historic building in 1949.
Castle of Faÿ of the 15th century

Personalities related to the commune

the general Lepic (1765 - 1827) finished its life with Andrésy where it had been withdrawn in 1815.
Raymond Renefer, pseudonym of Jean-Constant-Raymond Fontanet (1879 - 1957), draftsman, and post-impressionist painter, resided at Andrésy of 1928 with his death.
Julien Green (1900-1988) lived part of its childhood in the commune. Cultural center of the common door its name.
Ivry Gitlis gave its name to the music school of the city.
