Andermatt is a common canton of Uri.

Geography

The village of Andermatt is located at 33 kilometers in the south of Altdorf, on the road of Gothard. It is in the valley of Urseren.

Andermatt is a road crossroads with the intersection of the roads carrying out towards the collars of the Oberalp and Furka.

History

* The history of the commune is related to the opening of the alpine passage of the Gothard, towards 1200.
