And God created… Laflaque

And God created… Laflaque! is a Québécois television program sarcastic which comments on the topicality by the means of its main character, Gerard D. Laflaque, stereotyped father and advertiser of news disrespectful. Conceived by the Caricaturist Serge Chapleau, it is diffused on a basis Hebdomadaire since 2004 by the Télévision of Radio-Canada.

Concept

Gerard D. Laflaque made his appearance with the screen at the beginning of the Années 1980 in the form of a Marionnette out of latex. Now, like all the other characters, it is created by animation of synthesis.

The emission comprises two facets. In the first, we follow the character in his family life with Georgette, his wife, her son Marcel and his Asian girlfriend, her unbearable father, Pépère (arrived recently in the series), his Tarzan dog, like Edmond, the inventive neighbor of Gerard. Recently, the journalist Louise Cousineau is caricatured and plays the part of an owner of break-down mechanic who appears sometimes. In the second, we see it dissecting the social news under a glance pickling during an pseudo-emission of current events in company of its cameramen Roger and Henri, his Paulo manager, the tempting Sarah-Laurie Jolly and the puppet Ti-Low (arrived recently in the series).

He receives, in addition, on a regular basis of the speakers of any kind, the majority being caricatures of politicians, that is to say Paul Martin, Jean Charest, Stephen Harper, Gilles Duceppe, Jacques Parizeau, André Boisclair, George W. Bush, Mario Dumont, Stephan Dion and Guy Bertrand. In addition, the Christopher Hall presents, on a regular basis, small Vox-pop S (or reports) where he questions people on the street on generally absurd questions.

Anecdotes

The voice of several animated (Stephen To grip, Paul Martin, Gilles Duceppe, Jean Charest, Gerald Tremblay, Pépère, Ti-Low) is of the imitator Pierre Verville.

On the other hand, that of Gerard Laflaque is that of his creator Serge Chapleau.

One of the preferred swearwords of Gerard Laflaque: “Bastard”.

The team which deals with the modeling of the characters would currently work on a drawn version of Pauline Marois following the resignation of André Boisclair.
