Anauroch

The Anauroch is a Désert of sand in the north of Féérune, in the forgotten Royaumes.

Geography

The desert of Anauroch extends since the Grand Glacier in north, until the Cormyr in the south. To the east, it is limited the Vaux and the area of the Mer of the Moon, while with the west, the Marches of Money and the High-Forest make him stopping.

Presentation and History

This vast extended from sand and rock, the desert of Anauroch, progresses continuously. Its center was formerly the empire of Néthéril, a powerful region of magicians. Those controlled the magic on an extreme level, so much so that the use that it made some deprived the Phaerimm S of the magic which constituted their food (the phaerimms are powerful magic creatures which lived in the basement of Néthéril). At the edge of the extinction, the phaerimms launched powerful fates of fading which drained water and the life of the territory of the nation nétherisse and transformed this one into a hostile magic desert.

The war which followed finished on the end of the empire of Néthéril, and on the exodus of the survivors. The phaerimms were imprisoned by the Sharns, but they would seem that new events, in particular the return of the Reflets, are hustling the little of established order.

At the time of the last millenium, it gradually absorbed Asram, Hlondath, the city of Orolin and the large kingdoms gobelinoïdes which existed around the empire of Néthéril. All the ruins of these cities and nations lie from now on under sand. This inhospitable extent is aujourdhui inhabited and traversed only by Bedouins and adventurers, even if the city of Pénombre appeared there lately, probably in the search of remainders of the lost empire.
