Anastasia is an American film carried out by Anatole Litvak and left in 1956.
Synopsis
Paris, 1928. Russian exiled white, the Bounine general and his accomplices Chernov and Petrovin project to recover by all the means the fortune of the tsar Nicolas II, blocked out of Russia after the execution of the sovereign and of his family by the Bolchevik S, ten years earlier. As rumors circulate that young person of his/her daughters, the large-duchess Anastasia, would have been saved and would live under an assumed identity, they decide to find an young girl resembling to him in order to make it pass for it. At this point in time the day of Russian Passover, they prevent an unknown factor from committing suicide while jumping of a quay of the the Seine. Amnesic and vaguely resembling made descriptions of Anastasia, the named young woman Anna Koreff hesitates, then lets himself persuade by Bounine. She learns her role from heiress with zeal, then is presented to the members of the Russian imperial family, exiled them also in Paris.
Comment
The film is freely inspired by actual facts. It recalls partly the history Anna Anderson, an young woman discovered with Berlin whereas she was going to commit suicide, and interned in an asylum. It is there that she claimed to be the large-duchess Anastasia. Of followed a very long polemic: is or it is not the large-duchess?

Rewards
Ingrid Bergman gained the Oscar of the best actress. Alfred Newman was nominated in the category Oscar of the best film music, but the reward returned to Victor Young for the Round the world tour in quatre-ving days.
