The anarchistic Fédération (F) joins together in 1945, at the time of the congress of foundation, the militants come from the two main organizations of pre-war period (UA, FAF). The following congress was held in Dijon in September 1946. F published the Libertarian and the Hyphen (Paris, 1949-1950), interior bulletins of the groups of the Paris region. The partisans of an organization structured with a single political line (communist libertarian) constitute in 1949 the Thought Battles (OPB). The OPB functions like a secret organization and recruits its members by co-optation. At the time of the congress of Bordeaux (May 31st at June 2nd, 1952) of the members of the OPB are elected at the positions of responsibility. With the congress of Paris (23 May 25th, 1953) the name change of Libertarian F is decided of Communist Federation (FCL).
Parallèlement, in 1953 (see the article History of the libertarian movement in France) , an Anarchistic news Fédération was built between the partisans of the synthesis of Sebastien Faure and of the militants ouvrierists, favorable to a federal organization. Its action is based then on the possibility and the need for the existence of all the libertarian tendencies within the organization, the autonomy of each group, personal liabilities, and an press agency entitled “Le Monde Libertaire”.

In the Seventies, its basic principles will evolve to a compromise between the synthesis of Voline and some ideas plateformists, which will integrate in particular the class struggle.

Today, the F.A. defends a pluralist anarchism in which are expressed contemporary anarchisms by making them cohabit on organisational and ethical principles of federalism and mutual aid. Thus the tendencies are definitely affirmed, the majority of the individuals declaring itself quite simply anarchistic - without adjective.

The F.A. fights for an free society, without class nor State and based on the social equality, where the collective or individual possession of the means of production and distribution excludes the exploitation from the work of the others. In this company, the equality of birth, means of development and education is essential in all the fields. The social organization articulates herself around the free federation of the producers and the consumers, made and modifiable according to the will of their components, the free union of the individuals, the absolute right for any individual to express her opinions.

The F.A. preaches the abolition of the wage-earning and all the official institutions and other forms of oppression which maintain the exploitation of the man by the man, which implies the fight against the religions and mysticisms, even if they hide under the coat of science, against the patriotism and for the fraternization of all the human groups, and the abolition of the borders.

It is the whole company which the anarchists of the F.A. want to rebuild on a basis of respect and mutual aid, not for an individual, a class or a party, but for all the individuals; the social question being able to be solved definitively and really only on a worldwide scale. According to the principle of the autonomy of the groups and individuals, the Anarchistic Federation does not intervene on the strategies pursued by each one, that it is in the trade-union field or any other field of militant intervention to the local plan: feminist, antipatriarcal, antifascist, antinuclear, ecologist, antimilitarist, pacifist, antireligieux, etc

These actions should not be in opposition with the objectives and they can be criticized. But especially the anarchists of the F.A. intend to fight with all exploited against all the governments, thus recognizing the class struggle whose finality must be the introduction of an anarchistic company. It is a question of allowing the social classes exploited to reach their emancipation because it is they which will carry out the anarchistic company. To this end the participation in the wage claims disputes and émancipatrices are necessary to make it possible to the individuals to reach a situation of rupture. For that it is necessary to encourage the workers, exploited and the precarious ones to fight against the untrue mediations, to choose the autonomous direct action and to coordinate on the federalistic mode.

Enemies of any despotism, the anarchists push back all the authoritative theories which they are inspired by the Marxism, the clericalism, the monarchism, Fascism, liberalism, Islamism and very other. The revolution necessarily consists of destroying phases of the institutions of oppression and constructive phases for a new company which they want managed by all, and as of the beginning, on the anarchistic basis. This is why the Anarchistic Federation must be a tool adapted for the revolution, until its objectives concretize.

Operation

A congress, only decisional authority, is held every year and takes to decisions participants unanimously; it decides general orientations of the organization, propaganda campaigns to be carried out in the year and elects the various secretaries and administrators.

For a few years, three times per annum, meetings (CRE) have been organized in order to analyze the social situation and to react quickly to the level of the federal campaigns. The rule of the individual responsibility is observed.

Today

At present, the French-speaking Anarchistic Federation counts an about sixty groups in France but also in Belgium. That makes it possible the Anarchistic Federation to cover a rather dense and regular network on the whole of the territory and fact of it the French specific anarchistic organization best established and most developed.

The anarchistic Federation publishes a weekly, Le Monde libertarian, printed newspaper with 10.000 specimens, diffused by the average traditional militants, by the subscriptions but also in the kiosks. The Federation also created in 1981 a local radio, Radio libertarian, which emits on the whole of the Paris region and which obtains sizeable scores of audience; this radio emits in addition via flows Internet. This radio is a federal body directly managed by the congress, as well as other works. It is the case also for the Editions of the libertarian World, which publish each year booklets or books. The various groups of the anarchistic Federation are brought to manage buildings, like the Bookstore of the libertarian World (with 145 rue Amelot in Paris), the bookstore the Black Feather in Lyon, the autodidact in Besancon, the unsubdued one in Rouen, the Commune in Rennes, the libertarian Athenaeum in Bordeaux.

After having had internal problems which showed the defederation of the groups of South-west, reorganized of Coordination of the anarchistic groups (CGA), F took again its activities with a new energy. Since the congress of 2002, F ratified a motion of opening, solidarity and exchange with the other libertarian organizations.

This unit of action of the libertarians made it possible to make a success of the anti-G8 mobilization with Annemasse with the construction of a libertarian Village and the constitution of a red and black block at the time of the demonstration. Were present the Anarchistic Federation (FA), Alternative libertarian (Al), the Libertarian Communist Organization (OCL), the libertarian socialist Organization (OSL) - Swiss, No Pasaran (network antifascist), the National confederation of work (CNT).

This initiative was a true success. Following that, it was decided with the congress of F to launch a unit initiative at the time of the FSE by proposing a libertarian Social forum and a Living room of the anarchistic book. There still, libertarian organizations, and others still, answered present and organized one week of debates and demonstrations. Then it was at the time of a national demonstration against the nuclear power that the unit of the libertarians functioned again (F - Al - OCL). This type of initiatives was already had a presentiment of at the time it camp No To border of Strasbourg.

These demonstrations prove that the joint action of the anarchists is possible and that it allows a better appearance of their forces and their ideas.

The anarchistic Federation is member founder of the Internationale anarchistic federations (IFA) since 1968.
