Anaq
Anaq is a biblical character appearing mainly in the Pentateuque, at the time of the exploration of the Pays of Canaan then in the books of the Prophètes at the time of the conquest of the country by the Hebrew . Its descendants are known under the name of “Anaqites”, which were “ large and strong ”. Arba is one of the ancestors of Anaq (Josué 15:13).
Anaq is mentioned several times in the Hebraic Bible: in the Book of the Numbers, in the Deutéronome, the Book of Josué and in the Book of the Judges. Anaqites are also quoted in the Livre of Jérémie.
Anaq could have a certain spiritual relationship with the god sumérien Enki, or with the giant Anax in the Greek Mythologie. Besides the tradition allots to Anaq the relationship of a giant, Og, king of Bashân.
