Anakin Skywalker

Anakin Skywalker is the central figure of the second trilogy of the Star Wars (episodes I, II, III). It appears in the episodes I , II , III and VI , like in many novels.

Its name comes from Ken Annakin, friendly realizer of George Lucas.

Biography

At the beginning of the saga Star Wars , Anakin is a nine year old child, having the rate of Midday-chlorien the S most important known (27 000 midday-chloriens) and having capacities predestining it to become a large knight Jedi. It will follow a formation for becoming it, but it will be a few years pulled about later between the forces of the Good, which it is supposed to defend, and those of the Evil, which attract it.

Episode I: the phantom Threat

In its youth, Anakin Skywalker (called Ani) lives with his/her mother Shmi on Tatooine and is the slave of a Toydarien scrap merchant of the name of Watto. This child seems to hold capacities surprising for human of his age. He is a mechanic except par, the realizer of the droïde of protocol C-3PO and the only human being of the universe to have a gift for the piloting of podracers (modules of race). Whereas its destiny seems very traced on desert planet of Tatooine, it makes the meeting of Which-Gon Jinn, a Master Jedi fleeing the Fédération of the Trade in company of sound Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi and of the queen of Naboo, Padmé Amidala. Very quickly, Anakin sticks to these visitors and proposes to them its assistance so that those can acquire a new hyperpropulsor T14 essential to their spaceship, then defective. During its stay at Anakin, Which-Gon Jinn notices the surprising bond which links the boy with the Force. According to the Jedi Master, Anakin, not having never had of father, could be even conceived by the Force. His/her mother itself cannot provide explanation to the absence of paternity of Anakin (" I raised it, I carried it, put at the world. Myself I is not explained it pas"). It was concluded that midday-chloriens had conceived it.

After its victory with the race (of podracer) of the festival of Boonta Eve and thanks to the assistance of Which-Gon Jinn (which had put on the victory of Anakin in a bet against Watto), Anakin is released from its condition of slave. However, his/her mother cannot be released, which causes a large tear in the heart of Anakin, then nine years old. Encouraged by Which-Gon, Anakin decides to leave with Jedi and to follow it in order to be able to become its new apprentice padawan.

During its first space voyage, Anakin offers to Padmé Amidala a medallion in Jappor, of proof of its attachment for it and makes the meeting of the padawan Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi.

On Coruscant, the capital of the Galactic Republic, Which-Gon Jinn tries to make return Anakin within the Jedi Order. Vis-a-vis the Jedi Council, Anakin is seen refusing its entry in the Order, the Master Mace Windu too old considering it and the Master Yoda seeing in him much fear and a dubious future. In spite of the refusal of the Council, Which-Gon persists in wanting to form Anakin and takes this last under its wing.

The war seems to burst on the planet Naboo, victim of the Federation of the Trade. The Federation is directed by the black Lord of Siths: Dark Sidious, which is in fact Palpatine, a politician of Naboo. Palpatine makes use of the conflict on Naboo to be made élir Chancelier by the galactic Senate. At the time of a battle on the Naboo planet, Anakin takes the control of a space hunter without making purposely and is found propelled with the right in the middle of a space battle against a cruiser of the Federation of the Trade. After having landed in catastrophe in the principal hangar of the cruiser, and to have succeeded in, inadvertently, touching its central generator, Anakin regains planet as hero liberator.

After the death of Which-Gon Jinn on Naboo, assassinated by Dark Maul, Obi-Wan, become Jedi Knight, achieves the last will of its late Master and commits itself forming Anakin. In front of the stubbornness of Obi-Wan and by compassion vis-a-vis died of Which-Gon, the Yoda Master gives him his agreement by affirming however that it feels a great danger concerning the child. Anakin thus becomes officially new the padawan Jedi de Obi-Wan, its destiny as Élu of the Force thus begins in this day…

Episode II: the Attack of the clones

Ten years later, Anakin and Obi-Wan became of Jedi respected. It is quite naturally towards them that one turns oneself to protect the sénatrice from Naboo which is threatened of death. However Anakin is secretly in love with the sénatrice. This love for him is difficult to live because the Jedi Order has very strict and complex rules as for the relation between two people.

Meanwhile, Anakin perceives through the Force which his/her mother is in great danger on Tatooine. With the assistance of its beloved, it goes on Tatooine and discovers that she was removed by Tuskens, of the nomads of the desert. It will find it in a camp of the men of sands, but in a critical condition, it returns its last breath in the arms of her son.

Anger gains Anakin which blindly massacres all the camp of Tuskens. Its heart darkened and, with Obi-Wan always on its back, it is even locked up on him.

Obi-Wan calls it for the aid since the remote Géonosis planet. Anakin and Padmé leave for Géonosis. They are made there prisoners and Anakin learns that Padmé likes it too. Jedi come with their help with an immense army from clone S put in defeat the armies of the CSI. The Palpatine Chancellor, thanks to a skilful political game, succeeds in being made elect Supreme Chancelier of the Galactic Senate, a title which grants all the capacities to him.

During this time Anakin and Obi-Wan fight the Count Dooku but they are not powerful enough vis-a-vis the lord Sith, and Anakin loses its right-hand man there. Maître Yoda comes to their help and makes flee the Count. The battle being finished, Anakin accompanies back Padmé on Naboo, and Marie in secrecy with it (the code of Jedi prohibits to him).

Episode III: the Revenge of Sith

Three years afterwards, the battle of Coruscant makes rage. Prisoner of the separatists, the chancellor Palpatine is released by Obi-Wan and Anakin after this last got rid of the Count Dooku. In this context of war, the chancellor sees himself allotting more and more to be able by the Senate. Padmé learns in Anakin that it awaits her child but this one sees in dream the death of its beloved in layer. Tormented by its nightmares, it feels moreover held with the variation by the Jedi Council which decides to admit it in its center without to recognize to him the rank of Master Jedi. Furious, it moves away little by little on the luminous side of the Force.

Dark Sidious, alias Palpatine, order to the General Grievous (current chief of the Separatists and terrible robotized combatant) to lead the leaders of the opposition on planet of Mustaphar. Grievous will be made kill by Obi-Wan before itself cannot go there.

Palpatine exploits its weaknesses, its fears and its frustrations to make it rock Obscure Side of the Force. It appears with him as Dark Sidious and in particular promises to him to discover the capacity to preserve those which it likes of dead (and also Padmé, its wife). Anakin yields, kills the Master Jedi Windoo who threatened the Chancellor and becomes the apprentice of Palpatine: Dark Vador . Anakin Skywalker is not any more. The prophecy of the Elected official seems to be badly interpreted by Jedi. But some think that it will have been only delayed…

Anakin, on order of the Chancellor, launches out in a bloody crusade against its old order to exterminate Jedis. To this end, it attacks the Jedi temple and kills all the Masters, Chevaliers, and even very young people Padawan. Anakin is definitively Dark Vador. During this time, the Palpatine Chancellor, invested of all the capacities, orders with the clones to carry out order 66: to exterminate all Jedis which fights at the sides of the clones. Moreover, to the Galactic Senate, Palpatine explains what occurred while speaking about " coup d'etat of Jedis" and shows them to have wanted to reverse the Republic. He issues that Jedis will be from now on Hors-la-loi and explains why the Republic will be deeply reorganized to become the first imperial galactic power. Thus is born the Galactic Empire directed by the Palpatine Emperor.

The Emperor orders in Dark Vador to go on the Mustaphar planet, where the last separatist chiefs are who await the apprentice of Dark Sidious, not knowing that they were handled. When Dark Vador arrives, he massacres them all. Padmé joined it, followed to its knowledge by Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan and Dark Vador clash in a terrible duel " with the life, the mort" on volcanic planet. The duel is finally gained by Obi-Wan which, in a last attack of its old Padawan, cut the legs to him. Dark Vador ignites but survives. Later, the Emperor will make it look after and it will cover its black armor.

The last Jedis (Obi-Wan, Yoda…) are condemned to flee. Padmé dies while putting at the world Luke and Leia, the children of Anakin, who will be separate with the birth (Luke is carried out in his/her uncle on Tatooine). One of the last scene shows Dark Vador and the Emperor in an imperial cruiser vis-a-vis Black Star in construction. It is the beginning of the dark ages and the tyranny of the Empire. Sith were avenged, all seems lost then…

Episode VI: the return of Jedi

Wanting at all costs to corrupt his/her son Luke Skywalker in the Obscure Side, Vador manages to bring it near the emperor Palpatine, on the Star of Dead the still in construction. Pushed by the Emperor, Luke will start well in spite of him the combat against his/her father. Luke, in an access of anger against Vador, will put an end to this duel by slicing its right hand, leaving sinks it Sith lord with ground. This last, breathless but taking again its spirits, will save it and state with the face of the Emperor his failure in his attempt to convert it at the Obscure Side of the Force. Consequently, the conflict opposing Vador to Anakin Skywalker which Luke had a presentiment of disappeared when, seeing his/her son howling of pain under the lightning of the Emperor, Anakin remade surface definitively and took its Master with arm the body to throw it in the pit of Star of death, thus saving Luke, with the danger of its own life. By killing the emperor Sith, Anakin thus rebalanced the Force and carried out the prophecy for which it was intended.

Later, Luke will withdraw the helmet of his/her father to his request, so that this one can see it once its own eyes. The father will thank the son for having saved it, by allowing his redemption. From now on, Vador will not exist any more: Anakin Skywalker, the Jedi knight, will be of return. Burned according to the tradition Jedi, its spirit will reappear in Luke during the celebration of the victory of Rebellious Alliance on Endor under the features of noble Jedi Anakin Skywalker, at the side of its close friend, Obi-Wan Kenobi as well as Master Yoda.

Significance

Anakin : Can be translated by Commencement in an old Germanic dialect. Near to the Greek anakainosis who means revival . Anakim are a tribe of Nephilim, the giants in the Old Testament. One can cut out Anakin in Ana-kin what means without English relative and always in English Year-akin which wants to say a relative. Near to the name of the American realizer Ken Year which is a friend of George Lucas.
Skywalker : Sky-Walker wants to say walker of the sky , which is one of the nicknames given to the Scandinavian god Loki . In Indian spirituality, a daka or a Dakini is a frightening being which “is driven in the sky”. The dakinis, more particularly, play a crucial role in the tantrism of Buddhism Vajrayana.

Starkiller (star killer): Starkiller was the first idea of name of George Lucas for her young farmer before changing for the name of “Skywalker”.
