Anaheim

Anaheim is a town of California located in the Comté of Orange in the southern suburbs of Los Angeles and with the east of Long Beach famous for its amusement parks as Disneyland Resort (of which the park Disneyland) or Knott' S Berry Farm.

Presentation

Founded by fifty German families in 1857 and incorporated the February 10th 1870, Anaheim developed as an industrial center in the fields of electronics, the parts of plane and the preserve fruits. The toponym is drawn d'" Ana" (name of the close River of Santa Anna), and d'" heim" , substantive meaning " maison" in German superior. Before, the place was called " Campo Alemán" (translation in Spanish of " German Camp ").

Tourism and the entertainment are the main activities and sources of revenue.

History

Anaheim was founded in 1857 by producing wine and grape farmers coming from Franconie (Bavaria), but their industry was destroyed at the end of the 19th century by an invasion of insects.

In the Years 1920 the Ku Klux Klan, then at the top of its influence and its popularity, decided to make of Anaheim a model Klan city. In 1924, it worked in secrecy for made off elect four of its members to the Board Trustees (which counts 5 of them). Last nines of the ten members of the police force were also in their camp the four Klan administrators were useful during approximately a year until they are publicly uncovered and returned during an election to which 95% of the population took share.

The park with topic Disneyland was built between the July 21st 1954 and the July 17th of the following year. It very quickly became the most important tourist destination of the city. The site was formerly of a surface of approximately 647  497 m ² (160 acres) of orange trees and walnut trees, of which some are still inside the park. In 2001, the Disney' S California Adventure was opened with the public.
