Anaclet

Anaclet or Clet or Anenclet is, for the catholic , the third Pape and for the orthodoxe , the third Presbytre (president) of the Church of Rome. It succeeds Lin towards 80 and dies towards 91.

Biography

The name even of this pope is subject to deposit: one is unaware of if it named Cletus, Anacletus or Anencletus. One knows in an unquestionable way the existence of a character named Anacletus , usually shortened in Cletus , which undoubtedly died in Martyr during the persecution of Domitien between 88 and 96.

Eusèbe de Césarée, Irenee of Lyon and Augustin d' Hippone affirms that Anaclet and Clet were only one and even nobody. On the other hand, the bast Catalog (354) and the Liber pontificalis distinguish two different people.

The Liber pontificalis allots to him on a purely anachronistic basis the Ordination of 25 priests
