Amy Winehouse
Amy Jade Winehouse (born on September 14th, 1983 with Enfield, Large London (Middlesex), England) is a Chanteuse of Jazz and Soul.
Compared by the press with Sarah Vaughan or Macy Gray, Amy Winehouse is a figurehead of the new generation Jazz and Soul.
Biography
She listens to jazz with her family as of her more young age and starts to occur on scene quickly. At 9 years, conscious of its potential, it follows courses of theater, but is quickly returned for lack of discipline. It continues then its studies with the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology .
At 16 years, it signs its first contract, at Island Records. Its first album, Frank (October 2003), figure among the best sales of the United Kingdom.
In 2004, Amy gains the Grammy Award of the best contemporary song for its individual Stronger Than Me .
In October 2006 appears its second album, Back To Black . It is inspired to compose it of the “girl-groups” by the years 1960-1970, like the Supremes or the Shangri-Mow. The album is ovationné by the public and the critic, and is worth in Amy Winehouse the Brit Award of the best English artist (thanks to titles like Rehab , Me and Mr. Jones , Take The Box , etc) and a nomination with the Mercury Music Prize. The album reaches the 1st place of the French classifications.
Anecdotes
- the song Rehab was inspired with the singer by one period of depression which it crossed in 2005. Its leaning for the alcohol worried its entourage which wanted that it goes in “ rehab ”, i.e. in Detoxification therapy.
- Amy Winehouse was had a presentiment of to interpret the original soundtrack of next the James Bond (left film envisaged in 2008). It is finally Leona Lewis which was selected.
- on August 8th, 2007, it was allowed at the hospital University College London in the coma after an overdose caused by a mixture of alcohol, of Cocaïne, Héroïne, Ecstasy and Kétamine.
