Amway Arena

The Amway Arena (before Orlando Arena , TD Waterhouse Centers , The Arena in Orlando , and called O-Rena ) is a general sports room located at Orlando (Florida), belonging to the sports complex Orlando Centroplex.

Since 1989, its tenants are the Magic d' Orlando, a frankness from Basket-ball evolving/moving in NBA. The arena shelters also the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League since 1991. The room also accommodated the Orlando Miracle (WNBA) (1999 - 2002), the Solar Bears d' Orlando (LIH) (1995 - 2001) and the Orlando Seals (ACHL \ WHA2) (2002 - 2004). Since 2007, a team of Football in room MISL, the Orlando Sharks, plays in Amway Arena. Its capacity is of 17.248 places for the Basket-ball and 15.924 for the American football in room. The room has 26 continuations of luxury and 930 seats of club.

History

The Amway Arena was inaugurated the January 29th 1989, and its cost of construction was of $98 million dollars. Its old names were Orlando Arena (1989 - 1999), TD Waterhouse Center (1999 - 2006) and The Arena in Orlando (2006). In 2000, the Banque Toronto-Dominion bought the rights of name for $7,8 million dollars over 5 years. The nickname of the building for the Orlando Predators is " The Jungle." During the season AFL of 2005-2006, the arena was named Hummer Field At TD Waterhouse Center.

In 1991, the room was elected " Arena off the Year" (Arena of the year) by Performance Magazine and " Best Indoor Venue" Concert; by Pollstar Concert Industry Awards.

During the Season LNH 1993-94, the Lightning de Tampa Bay played five matches in the Amway Arena .

The December 7th 2006, the company Amway repurchased the rights of name of the arena which will name " Amway Arena ". The founder of Amway, Richard Devos is the current owner of the frankness from Magic d' Orlando.

New Orlando Magic Arena

The September 29th 2006, the town of Orlando and the Comté of Orange have conclude an agreement for construction from a new arena whose cost is estimated at $480 million dollars. New Orlando Magic Arena will belong to a vast building site the purpose of which will be to reinvigorate the downtown area of Orlando.
