Amsterdam Arena

The Amsterdam ArenA is a Football stadium located at Amsterdam with the Netherlands.

It replaced the stage De Meer in 1996, which after having accommodated the Ajax during 62 years had become too small and obsolete. It is a stage considered as ultramodern, with a retractable roof able to open or to be closed in a half hour. Its construction started in 1994, and the stage was inaugurated the August 14th 1996 by a friendly match between Ajax and the Milan AC (victory 1-4 of Milan). However, the club is not owner of this stage, which accommodates other events like the matches of the team of American football Amsterdam Admirals, as well as spectacles. Because of these many events, the lawn the Arena is often of bad quality for the practice of football. The stage had initially been thought to accommodate the Olympic Games of summer of 1992, finally allotted to Barcelona. It has a capacity of 51.859 seats, and cost approximately 96 million euro.
