Amritanandamayi subdued

Subdued Amritanandamayi , called more commonly Amma (" Mère") (born the September 27th 1953) is large holy of the India of today and the founder of an ONG (M.A. Math) with humane and ecological goal whose seat is with the Kérala (extreme South-west of India).

Representing Hindouisme, it however exceeds the framework of its religion to transmit a message of Love which touches people all around the World and of any religious confession. She says itself besides that its religion is the Love.

Its example and its untiring energy inspire by the million beings all over the world, since the former President of India A.P.J. Abdul Kalam which gave the first 10 months of its wages to the M.A. Math, many scientists, the doctors, of the academics, until the simple families of fishermen of her medium of origin and the most stripped with it changed the life.

Biography of the first years of its life

Amma is born on September 27th, 1953, in a small village of the coast of the Kérala , in the South of India, within a family of humble fishermen. His/her parents called it Soudhamani. It was a remarkable little girl with much regard which showed as of the childhood of many unusual signs. Filled of an unbounded devotion for the divine one, his/her parents found it sometimes absorptive in a state of Samadhi, deep meditation, completely lost in this world. Misunderstood it was treated like a maidservant and was scorned of her entourage. She stopped the school at nine years, because his/her mother fell sick and she had to deal with her family.

Finally it was forced to leave the family roof and of living without shelter. She devoted herself to an important ascetic discipline. All its being burned love for the divine one and more particularly under its aspect of divine Mère , an aspect of divine very important in the tradition hindouist. After this long asceticism, Amma started to reveal its true mission: to relieve the suffering of the world and to guide the steps of the spiritual researchers. Soudhamani became then Mata Amritanandamayi , the " Mother of the Bliss immortelle".

Those which, twenty five years ago, came in the village fishing to receive its teaching and its darshan became its first disciples. They felt a very strong attraction for this extremely simple and modest woman whose an authentic spiritual radiation emanated. It was the beginning of “Mata Amritanandamayi Math”, the most important first and of its Ashram S, located close to Kollam in Kérala, where Amma grows.

Since, it shares its time between its ashram principal and several turns which it makes each year in the USA, Europe, Japan, India… to transmit its message of Love and not involved service. It as well meets during these rounds its excessively pious people or disciples of the Whole world that the curious ones, come to try out the experiment of the darshan.

Darshan d' Amma

In the religion hindouist, the Darshan indicates one moment of visual contact with a spiritual Master or his representation and the transmission of spiritual energy associated with this vision. It can take various forms according to the Masters. The darshan of Amma takes the form of tightening câlin filled of maternal love which made it famous.

Humanitarian actions

Mr. A. Math, ONG founded by Amma, has developed for more than 20 years a vast network of caritative works, including distribution of food, housing construction free, pensions for widows, orphanage, education and professional training, health (free care, hospital…).

Mr. A. Math also developed an university campus which, in a few years, became a figurehead in the field of data processing and research. The university works with the government of India to develop education in all the layers of the company like in the moved back places (launching of the project Amrita- ISRO with the president of India, and agreement with the universities of the USA, Indian the Prime Minister)

Organization M.A. MATHS, inter alia distinctions, received in July 2005 the statute of ONG advisory near the Economic and Social Council of UNO.

The the French Red Cross, in the search of guaranteed local organizations presenting all, signed with Mr. A. Math a cooperation agreement for the assistance with the victims of the tsunami.

Lately, the efforts of all the voluntary ones were concentrated on the assistance with the victims of the tsunami in India and Sri Lanka (what was worth in Amma to be honoured by the Reward with the Centenary with the Rotary International for its Service with Humanity, with the hotel Méridien of Cochin, on February 23rd, 2005).

Its humanitarian action and the message of Love which it transmits was worth to him of many recognitions.
