Amphitheater of Larino

The Amphithéâtre of Larino was in the town of Larinum (today Larino in the Molise) .

It was carried out at the end of IE century following will of a Roman senator citizen of Larinum .

The Amphithéâtre had four entries. One reached the upper part ( summa Cavea ) by means of external perrons. Twelve doors ( Vomitoria ) gave access to the steps.

The building maintained its importance even in the Early middle ages, when it was transformed into place of defense of the inhabitants of Larino.
