Amphisbaenia
The amphisbenes (sub-order of Amphisbaenia) form a particular group of Squamate S without legs definitely different from the Lézard S and of the Serpent S. They present a resemblance to the worms due to their pink color, their scale S arranged out of rings and their dimension of approximately 10 cm. They are badly known because of their digger life mode and their scarcity. The majority live in Africa and South America with only one Espèce in North America.
Description
The head is in the prolongation of the body without marked separation but with a solid osseous cranium. the amphisbenes have only one characteristic tooth on the upper jaw. The body is lengthened and the short tail resembles the head. They do not have ears and the eyes are deeply inserted and covered with skin and scales. The skin is not attached to the muscles as loosely and as well allows a progression using movements out of bellows of accordion towards before the back.
Blanus cinereus is the only species present in Europe in the Iberian peninsula.
