Amphibolite

A amphibolite is a metamorphic Roche with Amphibole S and plagioclases of the general Métamorphisme (mésozone with catazone), with poor Clivage S and rather massive Texture, dark green.

It primarily consists of amphibole crystals, more or less ordered in the plans of Schistosité (granoblastic structure with squat crystals, nematoblastic with acicular crystals); few or not quartz; Feldspar S (plagioclases) always present but more or less abundant, sometimes grouped in beds (amphibolites ribboned). The Amphibolite also consists of crystals of Corindon characterized by its strong relief in LPNA.

The amphibolites derive from Pélite S calcareous, of marl S detrital, rocks volcanogenic, of Basalt, Spilite S, Diorite S, and Gabbro S. The rock amphibolite was used sometimes as arms, axe towards -5000bc, for example in Central Europe. (information in Barry Cunliffe - dictionary of prehistory)
