Ammonium hydrogen carbonate

The hydrogen carbonate ammonium (formula NH_4HCO_3) is a salt Bicarbonate of the Ammonium.

It is a product irritating for the Peau, the eyes and the respiratory system.

One formerly used it in food industry like powders with raising before the introduction of the Bicarbonate of soda.

Properties

  • Appearance: with room temperature, it is a white powder

  • Solubilité in water: the hydrogen carbonate ammonium dissolves entirely in the water, which it makes alkaline. Dissolution is Endothermique, i.e. the Température of the solution drops.
It is called E503 as a food additive
