Amistad is an American film carried out by Steven Spielberg, left in 1997.
Synopsis
The film was inspired by authentic facts.A ship trading the Wood of ebony within the framework of the triangular Trade made Shipwreck on the ground of the United States, then in full awakening with the NORTH-SOUTH cleavage which will lead to the free trade advent of the legislation. The black slaves shipwrecked men of Amistad (name of the ship), whose destination was the plantations of the Caribbean and not the southernmost colonies of the United States, are locked up in a fort of the army.
Whereas the Armateur S of the ship deposit an appeal to justice to recover to them " cargaison" , a lawyer of the city asks that the statute of refugees for these shipwrecked men be recognized, and challenges the assertion which these people are treated of goods.
A conflict follows on the legal level concerning the qualification of the lawsuit (commercial law or human rights) which will allow to the charismatic representative shipwrecked men held to meet a character with dimensions of Founding father; both will exchange remarks full with humanity; this last will defend the cause of the Blacks vis-a-vis the legal authorities of the country and its pleading, lucid on the secession which approaches, will call upon the principles at the origin of the foundation of the American democracy.
