Amidure
The ion amidure is the combined base of the Ammoniac. Its formula is NH2-. The ion amidure is a strong Base (pKa NH3/NH2- = 28). this is why all the compounds of this ion will react with water to give ammonia. There exists into weak quantities in liquid ammonia because of the reaction of Autoprotolyse.
One can always produce it in solution in ammonia by reaction with a strongly reducing metal like sodium.
Example of reaction:
The amidures are used for déprotoner less strong bases in organic synthesis (nucleophilic elimination/substitution).
The hydrogen atoms of the ion can be substituted by radicals alkyl such as for example with LDA, reagent used in Organic chemistry in particular for the reactions of elimination.
