Amfreville-the-Semi-Way is a common French, located in the department of the Seine-Maritime and the area High-Normandy.
Geography
Amfreville-the-semi Way is located at 5 km in the south of Rouen, on Right Bank of the the Seine. It is served by line 11 of the network TCAR.Commune of the country of Rouen or Rouënnais located in the canton of Boos.
History
The origin of this name would come from Ansfredi villa , Ansfred being the name of a Germanic chief who settled in this place after the Roman occupation.Name “the mivoie” date of the construction of the Saint-Ouen abbey in Rouen. The stones which came from the careers of Port-Saint-Ouen, located upstream commune, were conveyed by the Seine on barges drawn by horses. It is in Amfreville, with semi-way (with semi-course), that the relay was which allowed the change of the horses.
Formerly common industrial (Alun or of lead nitrate manufactures, foundry…) and cradle of shipping (shipyards), Amfreville counts more currently only one important company, Pirelli, specialized in the manufacture of cable S.
Considered during very many years only as one axis of circulation (one counted to 18.000 vehicles per day in center town), the commune breathes since the opening of the deviation of RN15 in 1997.
