Amettes

Amettes is a common French, located in the department of the Pas-de-Calais and the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

Geography

The village of Amettes is an Artesian village with the habitat grouped along the Nave which digs a picturesque and raised valley. Downstream the river sprinkles the village of Hearts and upstream, the village of Nédon. Nave is thrown in Clarence which is itself an affluent of the Lily.

Amettes is located on the buttresses of the hills of Artois at a few kilometers of the high hill of Hurtbise (200m of altidude approximately).

History

The commune is served by the secondary road 341 known as Chaussée Brunehaut connecting Arras to Thérouanne.

Amettes saw the birth, the March 26th 1748, of Benoît Joseph Labre, saint of the Catholic church. The native house of the saint is always upright, preserved Artesian thatched cottage typical good accessible (free) to the visit in a meadow below the church.
