LAmerican way off life is an expression indicating the American lifestyle which developed at the 20th century and which rests on the Consommation of mass. This one takes several forms: Leisure S, objects of the daily life (food, electric household appliances…), vestimentary codes (Jean, costume…) information for the individual, but also Overexploitation of the Natural resources (Water, Oil, forest resources).

The term was largely commented on since the declaration of George Bush Sr (father of George W. Bush), in 1992, considering that nothing would make give up its Gouvernement defending the American way off life ( the way of life of the Americans is not negotiable ), interpreted in the context of the war in Iraq by the fast Consommation of the Natural resources of planet.

It is also illustrated by artists like Norman Rockwell.

Cinematographic Culture, element of domination

The United States exported seven times more television programs than their immediate competitor, Great Britain. Within the European market, the 100 first television channels import of the United States 69% of the diffused programs of fiction. In addition, the american companies monopolize, according to the countries, 80 to 90% of the worldwide market of the video. The cinema is a world success. The American films account for 6 to 7% of the worldwide production but occupy 50% of the time of projection.

History

The development of American way off life in Europe and in the world is a phenomenon related to the 20th century. The assistance which got the American army during the First World War, where it was particularly effective on the logistic organization, in the center of France for example, started to wake up an interest for this new Culture.

During the Second world war, the effort of production of the armaments necessary to the Débarquement of Normandy was more the great project Industriel ever carried out in a time also runs by a nation.

With the Release, the Americans profited thus from a considerable prestige, which they succeeded in negotiating near the European countries. The Agreement Blum-Byrnes (1946) for example, in addition to the financial aid which it granted to the France, comprised the authorization to make project American Film S in the French Cinemas. Today, the American Film S can be diffused in English language, with Sous-titrage in French, while the French films in the United States must obligatorily be the subject of an American version, without what they are prohibited. Thus started to diffuse a diverted form of inequality in the rights of access with the Média S.

With the Release, other products of great consumption were spread in Europe: Chewing-gum, Coca-Cola,… diffusing an American form of Mass culture. The paradox of Leontief expresses, in the form of economic theory, the fact that the the United States arrived to Exporter well S less intensive in Capital than are to it their Importation S.

Today
