American kenpo

The Américan kenpo became a generic term indicating a whole of systems of combat of origin hawaienne which developed with the the United States. However, this term often indicates in a specific way, the system of combat created by the large-Master ED Parker in the United States as of the middle of the Fifties.

The Master of ED Parker was WK Chow, Chinese immigrant in Hawaii, also called " Eclair" , so much its techniques were fast.

ED Parker, through a certain number of successive exchanges with other experts of many martial systems, will create a new system of combat.

Among these experts, one finds Masters of kung Chinese fu (among which famous Bruce Lee which will be in contact lasting eight years with ED Parker), and other experts of less known systems. The large-Master ED Parker made evolve/move gradually the technical structure of the system. Many improvements come from experiments of the system by certain pupils of the Parker Master in situations of street battle in the United States. The structure theoretical of the system, complex, will be led as of the beginning of the year eighty. After the death of the large-Master ED Parker in the years 1990, its system which developed around one only international organization (I.K.K.A), will be divided. The majority of the large experts indeed decided to create each one their organization and to develop to with it their personal vision of this Article. Américan kenpo of ED Parker is a system very developed in the United States, but also in Latin America, in Ireland, in Germany, and Great Britain. Late France initially in this field, starts to make up for its lost time. This Art is indeed diffused in some French areas such as: the North of France, the Paris region (Paris), South of France, the Vosges. The organizations more in sight in the world are: A.K.K.I of the large-Master Paul Millets, a.K.K.S of professor Jeff Speakman, a.K.T.S of the Master John Zepulveda, the U.K.F of the Master Mike Pick, the L.T.K.K.A of the Master Larry Tatum.

Technically, Américan kenpo is based contrary to many other systems of combat on the will to adapt the system of combat to the body structure of each practitioner. The system is characterized by techniques aiming at the vital zones of the body. The techniques are connected in a fluid way, and in sequence the many ones strike. These techniques are based on the saving in movement, and are based on the reactions of the adversary, to make them still more effective.

One learns from the techniques of defense in many varied situations (attacks in the back, key of arm, push, punch, of foot, quarrel of face, attacks with the bludgeon, the knife, etc…). The system also teaches on a advanced level, techniques of weapons such as the short sticks and the knives. The system is based on concepts and principles of combat making its practice more interesting.
